Igor Stravinsky (b. June 17th, 1882, d. April 6th, 1971) was a Russian, French, and later American composer, pianist, and conductor.

Biography

Igor Stravinsky was born June 17th, 1882. He is acknowledged as being one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century. His most notable ballets performed in Paris were The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and The Rite of Spring (1913), two of which the soundtrack was used for Fantasia and Fantasia 2000.

Stravinsky was the only living composer to see Fantasia in the works and the premiere. However, he didn't like Leopold Stokowski's recordings of The Rite of Spring, as the animators cut out some of the segments of the piece. The Firebird was played in Fantasia 2000 as the last segment, but Stravinsky had died years ago in 1971.

Trivia
