Overview[]

Introduction[]

From the artist's tables, James Earl Jones says how they had been the birthplace of some of the most beloved animal characters of all time. Therefore it was no surprise they chose Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals for the next segment. He explains that here, the sensitive strains of impressionistic music combine with the animator's subtle artistry to find an answer to an age-old question. While he believes the question is "What is man's relationship to nature?", an artist hands him a piece of paper with the "actual" question on it, which reads "What would happen if you gave a yo-yo to a flock of flamingoes?" The segment begins immediately after he asks in puzzlement, "Who wrote this?"
